CAANZ encourages both current students and those considering a career change to the advertising and communications industries to enrol in a recognised industry training programme.
In addition to formal training and qualifications you need a passion for this industry and a comprehensive knowledge of current trends, what creative creative work is being done by which agency, what is happening in the traditional and emerging media channels and what are the developments in technology that will impact on this industry.
Most importantly, make sure you know why you like the advertising and communications campaigns you say you like...you will be asked.
We don't expect you to know everything or be an expert before you are in the industry but we do expect that you can illustrate your passionate interest by having a good broad knowledge about it through your own observation, reading the blogs, checking out who wins the awards and why, signing up to the newsletters, reviewing agency websites and growing a bit of technical nouse even if it hurts!
CAANZ works collaboratively with industry recognised training providers, providing a dynamic conduit between industry and education, with a view to ensuring they have the means to inform each other and create clear pathways for outstanding talent to prepare for and join the communications industry.
